“Trunk of Treat” is a safe trick or treating event where those who would like to hand out Halloween treats decorate the trunk of their car, park their vehicles in our parking lot and hand out candy to each child dressed in costume who goes from trunk to trunk collecting treats.  We charge a price of five dollars per child for admission.  We also raffle gifts and sell food for raising funds.

All proceeds from this event go towards the Kyle Cruz Scholarship at the Wilderness School located in East Hartford, Connecticut. Kyle was a teenage member of our church family who sadly passed away six years ago this autumn.  To honor his memory, we sponsor this event for the benefit of the Wilderness School, which is a prevention, intervention and transition program for at-risk adolescents from Connecticut.   The Wilderness School offers high impact 20-day and 5-day wilderness programs intended to foster positive youth development.  Over the past years, we have raised slightly more than $18,000.00.

For donating a raffle gift, please contact the church office at (203) 324-6715.   For cash donations, please make checks payable to Union Memorial Church and write “Trunk or Treat” on the memo line.  Please note that your contribution is tax deductible and is greatly appreciated.  If you request, we can send to you our church’s tax exempt 501(c)(3) information and a receipt.
